NYC Gray Day, and new songs emerging

Hello :),
I haven't been as prolific in the past year as I was in the 2 or 3 years before that. I honestly don't know if hat's good or bad, it's just true. I've been thinking about it a lot lately. Am I just writing less because I have less misery to draw on ;), or am I just getting more particular about what I put out?
It's a bit of both, I guess. I don't have the same desperate need to put all of my...stuff...somewhere 24/7, that's certainly true. And healthy. But the songs that I HAVE written more recently are, IMHO, really good. So ultimately I've taken a few baby steps in the right direction, I suppose.
I have been frustrated with the slowness of my creativity, and trying to focus on way to make to more efficient, more reliable (if that's even possible). I made a choice yesterday to "clear the mechanism" - not sure what Kevin Costner has to do with this, but oh well...I watched no TV, and played no games on my phone. I only used my computer as much as was necessary to do business, and I took a very long walk. The result (or maybe not) was that I was awakened this morning by the gift of a pretty good idea, which I have spent the better part of my morning working on. I plan to keep this up as long as it works, or until my resolve fails. Whichever comes first.
This is a great town for long walks. Even when the weather is not great, there is so much to see. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I can do for free.
I'm gearing up for my NYC "debut" if you will - my first real show all to myself as a New Yorker. And it's a good one. I'm plaing at The Bitter End - THE Bitter End - on February 16 at 8 pm. Just one set, joined my my good friend and great piano player Paul Silverman, and I can't wait.
I'm also starting to think about another record. Who to record with, to Kickstart or not to Kickstart, that is the question (opinions welcomed). I have lots of tunes (in spite of this diatribe) lots of energy, and lots of ideas, but very little money. Hence the question.
I hope all of you are having a great January, and finding your own ways to clear the mechanism. And I hope to see you very, very soon.
Love,
KO
